Deep Dark Buttermilk Chocolate Cake
Quick to come together and quick to bake, this rich and simple cake pairs tangy buttermilk with dark chocolate. Excellent for birthday celebrations and everyday eating.
Preheat oven to 350°F
Ingredients
MIX:
2 cups sugar
1 3/4 cups flour
3/4 cup cocoa powder (Dutch process)
1 1/2 teaspoons each: baking soda and baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
IN ANOTHER BOWL BEAT:
2 eggs
1 cup Butterworks Farm buttermilk
1/2 cup (1 stick) melted butter
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
Instructions
Mix dry into wet ingredients.
Then add 1 cup boiling water or hot coffee.
Bake for 30 minutes in greased pans, either two 9″ layers, or one 9×12″ pan.
